You may have heard chatter and concern over the announcement from the United States Postal Service (USPS) that it was discontinuing its Reseller Program effective October 1st, 2022.
The Reseller Program, which originally launched in 1992, allowed SMBs to tap into shipping discounts that previously were only available for companies that shipped large volumes. These lower than retail rates were available to businesses via third party resellers like Easyship. Earlier this month, USPS confirmed that the reseller program was no longer aligned with its original goals. USPS spokesperson David Partenheimer stated:
“The Postal Service undertook an evaluation of its reseller program and has determined that the program as currently structured is not resulting in the customer benefits and efficiencies that were originally envisioned, has caused difficulties in monitoring compliance with pricing and other terms, and should be discontinued.”
Should I be worried?
