Easyship Insurance is provided by InsureShip and backed by The Navigators Group and The Hartford, both rated A+ “Excellent” by A.M. Best. It's important to know that Easyship itself is not an insurance company; InsureShip manages all claims related to Easyship insurance.

This insurance covers your shipment and its contents against damage or loss due to external causes while it’s in transit. The coverage applies when the package is in the care, custody, or control of the carrier, whether it's being sent to or from your location. If a claim is approved, the underwriters will cover the invoice value of the lost, damaged, or destroyed item. If the item is damaged but repairable, the insurance will cover the cost of repairs to restore it to its original condition.

If an invoice is not available, the compensation will be based on the Actual Cash Value (ACV), which is the replacement cost minus depreciation. Please note that the insurance does not cover situations caused by government or public authority actions, such as delivery delays, confiscation, destruction of goods, or shipments returned to the sender.

Coverage Limits

The maximum insurable value for your item and shipping costs is $10,000.00 USD per shipment. Shipments exceeding this value can still be insured, but any reimbursements for accepted claims will be capped at the $10,000.00 USD limit.

Declared Items Coverage Clause

This insurance policy covers only the items explicitly declared and insured at the time of purchase. The insured must accurately declare all items, including the number of parcels and their contents when obtaining coverage.

Coverage Limitation:

  • Only the declared and documented items are eligible for coverage under this policy. Any additional items or parcels not included in the original insurance declaration will not be covered, regardless of whether they are shipped alongside the insured items.
  • If multiple parcels are shipped and only a portion of them is declared for insurance, only the declared parcels are covered. Any loss, damage, or non-arrival of undeclared items or parcels will not be eligible for claims.

Required Documents for Filing an Insurance Claim

To successfully file an insurance claim, you will need to provide the following documents:

  • Online Claim Form: This is completed when you file the claim through your Easyship dashboard. (Refer to this article for guidance).
  • Proof of Value: A sales or purchase invoice demonstrating the value of the item(s) being claimed.
  • Recipient Statement of Non-Receipt or Damage: A statement from the recipient confirming they did not receive the shipment or reporting the damage.
  • Pictures of Damage, Repair Estimate, or Salvage Value: If applicable, include images of the damage, an estimate for repairs, or the salvage value. Also, include pre-shipping images that clearly show the packed items inside the packaging, as well as photos of the outer box. These can help support your claim.
